I’m concerned. If I move to a “normal” city – one that isn’t here – what will I have to bitch about?

I mean, here, I can bitch about…..

  • the snow
  • the total closed-mindedness of some of the people here
  • the lack of exposure to anything that doesn’t originate from Maine
  • the fact that this state is 96% Caucasian, thus eliminating the chance to be exposed to different cultures
  • the snow/cold
  • the lack of good shopping
  • the lack of good food
  • the lack of cultural events and venues

The school system here is really good. Amazingly, despite all of it’s other shortcomings, Maine’s schools rank in the top 5 in the country. The kidlet’s school has around 300 students, K-6. There is one first grade class, with 17 students in it – the same 17 who were in her kindergarten class. The school she will be going to will not meet those same criteria. It’s larger, although not as large as others in larger cities.

So we move to the NC in 12 days. I’m excited, I’m nervous. I am so looking forward to changing my weather widget to show something other than the 9 degrees that it is showing right now.
